Safehouse was formed after Andrew put together a scratch band to perform In Venlo, Holland, in Dec 2000.The next six months were spent trying to find the correct blend of musicians, style and name for what has become, The Safehouse Blues Band. The direction of the band was given a real push when the veteran blues lead guitar player John Bruce joined up in September 2001. Besides being an original member of Blues and Trouble John was also a life long school friend of Andrew, and they both played their first ever gig together at a fifth year party in 1973. The band has now exceeded 600 gigs, and work very hard to entertain in a way they would like to be entertained themselves. The set now includes many original classics written by John along with some tasty covers. Highlights to date include ten tours of Holland and Germany, gigs at the Renfrew Ferry, Edinburgh Jam House, Ven Blues Festival, Tagelen Blues Festival, Gairloch, Dundee Blues Bonanza and a regular monthly spot at the bands favourite bar Whistle Binkies in Edinburgh.
